News » Autism Ireland Blue Nose Day 2017 2017-04-01

Kilrane National School Glen Fuels

The Glen Fuels Rosslare depot manager Ian Murphy and driver Jonny Devereux with his pristine oil delivery truck were out on April 1st at Kilrane National School for the official launch of World Autism Awareness Month. We are inviting everyone within our distribution areas to support Irish Autism Action's 4th annual Blue Nose Day on April 27th. All you have to do is wear blue clothing, wear a blue nose, walk a mile, eat a blueberry muffin and/or make a donation.

While the cause of autism is not yet known, both genetics and the environment are being investigated. Interestingly, the information on this page indicates that environmental factors weigh in a bit heavier than genetics.

- 34% of children with autism say the worst thing about being in school is being picked on
- 15% of adults with autism (in the UK) are in full-time employment
- The number of people in Ireland impacted by an autism diagnosis would fill the Aviva Stadium 5 times over.
