News » Host a Feast on your Street 2017 2017-06-08
Fast eaters. Slow eaters. Chatty eaters. Quiet eaters. There's room for everyone at the table. Food. And the act of sharing it has the power to bridge social divides, offer a common ground for cultural differences, introduce us to a world beyond our own four walls, create lasting friendships, heal long standing rifts, create a community, create a space to communicate and trade ideas or opinions, to show love, to show gratitude.
The act of eating together - whether it's a quick catch-up over a simple dish or big celebration of several courses - brings a wealth of health to those who engage!

243 reasons why:
According to StreetFeast.ie there are 243 reasons to join the Feast. Here are their six top reasons:
-
To celebrate our streets, cul-de-sacs, neighbourhoods & local communities.
-
To support and shine a light on the communities, networks and organisations that are holding everything together.
-
To have fun. To laugh. To stop for a moment. To open up and give-up our shyness for a day. It’s so much better with others…
-
To encourage more life on the streets, feel safer and reduce loneliness and isolation.
-
To share great local food, home-grown produce, cracking stories, bad jokes, practical skills, useful tools, different customs, common ground…
-
To show what can be achieved when a small group of neighbours come together and try something special
