“The shorter evenings are here now so the roads get fewer hours of daylight and sun to dry out. This means roads will almost always be wet and slippy for the next few months.

“In addition, the verges are soft and there are lots of leaves on the roads.

“It is therefore essential that all bikes, motorcycles and vehicles are fitted with good tyres that are inflated to the correct pressure. This small detail can mean the difference between your involvement in an expensive crash or not.

“If you are unsure of the condition of your tyres, have them checked at a tyre centre for your safety and for the safety of all other road users.”
