Hiking in Ireland

As the weather brightens, the days lengthen and we start to stretch our legs please remember that lambing season has arrived all over Ireland. 

During Covid many Irish homes welcomed dogs into the family. As dog lovers ourselves, and as experienced hikers and farmers; the Glen Fuels Family urges all dog walkers/hikers to keep their dogs - of all shapes and sizes - on a lead at all times up the hills during this very delicate time for ewes and their young. 

There are many walks throughout all counties in Ireland where dogs can run free without risking lives. The higher up the hills you go while Hiking Ireland, the greater the risk to livestock and livelihoods. 

Dogs Attack Sheep Hiking in Ireland

Last week in Co. Wicklow a dog belonging to two male walkers got into a field of ewes. Fortunately the farmer was close by and could intercept a potential massacre.
