Blog » New Ross » Maize Crop August Update
We promised you an August update on the Maize crop Tom has been following since Spring 2018 when it was planted under sheets of plastic in very difficult growing conditions following a long and cold winter. Read the July update here and the first blog here.
This crop has been thriving. In fact, the majority of crops this year are looking very good with just 6/7 weeks to harvest.
This is a timely boost to farmers as the fodder situation for winter 2018 is going to be a difficult one.
The decision to increase plantation of Maize this year was a wise one as the later sown cereal crops are yielding around 1 tonne per acre less than 2017.
Keep Glen Fuels New Ross in mind for all your oil and lube requirements this harvest season or contact Tom Hipwell 086 1304479. We will continue to follow this crop until the end of the season.
